Sea Breeze, the WT does not teach that is Jesus is ruling on the Earth. They teach that Jesus is ruling in heaven over the Earth. They teach that Christ (and also the 144,000) will not be on Earth during the 1,000 years, but be in heaven during that time. They teach that Christ is currently ruling among his enemies (while the enemies are active, hence their application of the 'nation against will rise against nation' and there will be 'famines in one place after another' of in Matt. chapter 24 and their application of Psalms 110:2) and that the 1,000 year period is the portion of his reign when his chief enemy (Satan) will be in the abyss and thus 'unable to mislead the nations anymore'. The WT thus teaches that Christ's reign is more than 1,000 years - something that even some JWs don't realize the WT teaches. Those teachings of them might conflict with the Bible, but nonetheless those are some of their teachings.

Why a 1914 Return Date is Impossible
by Sea Breeze inrevelation 20:2-3. and he [jesus] laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the devil, and satan, and bound him a thousand years,.
and cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.. we see that the millennial reign begins with satan being bound.
he will be bound for 1000 years.

I am sad that Hairyhegoat left the truth - namely atheism and naturalism. I wish that by the age of 13 I had become an atheist and a scientific naturalist. Such would have been feasible if I hadn't been so indoctrinated by the WT literature and its other avenues of indoctrination. If by age 13 I had read all three parts of the Age of Reason by Thomas Paine, or the words of Robert Ingersoll (of which the atheist Joseph Lewis wrote a book called Ingersoll the Magnificent) regarding religion, or if I had read pro-evolution books by scientists, it would have made a huge difference and would caused me to not believe in a personal god by then, if also be not an outright atheist and a naturalist by then.
I am glad though that Hairyhegoat recognized that a number of the teachings of the WT are incompatible with the Bible. But most of the Bible is incompatible with modern scientific knowledge.
I notice that Hairyhegoat was disappointed that from the point of view of atheistic naturalism there is no ultimate purpose for the universe, including our lives. But for me the idea that there is no ultimate purpose for the universe, including our lives, is a big relief. That is because it means I don't have a purpose being forced upon me by a supernatural being (such as a god). It also means there are no evil spirit beings (of any kind) to fear. It means I can decide for myself what to do with my life; I can choose a purpose for myself. That kind of purpose is not a self-deceptive fiction nor any other kind of fiction. Being an atheist means I am fully free to think to for myself and to question what others say - something which is very important to me. It means that if an idea strongly seems to be utter nonsense (like many of the teachings of most religions), with no evidentiary support, then I can reject it instead of feeling compelled to force myself to accept it.
Yes being an atheist and a naturalist means there is no prospect at all for eternal life, but it is best to accept reality.

During the 1980s, President Ronald Reagan's massive increase in spending in weapons systems combined with his cold war against the U.S.S.R., and his promotion of a spaced anti-missile defense system (which people called a 'Star Wars' defense system), caused me to fear (at times) that the world might come extremely close to a nuclear war. The "International Year of Peace and Security" had me somewhat wondering if a peace deal would come that would fulfill the biblical prophecy of a cry of "peace and security".

PBS NewsHour yesterday (April 27, 2021) in a portion of their broadcast had video documentation of the far so-called "right" wing media (which I now call the "wrong wing media") making some very misleading comments and even outright lies. The PBS broadcast also explained that the wrong wing media's statements of lies and misinformation are motivated by financial reasons. I encourage people are who believe in the far "right' media's sharp criticisms of the Biden administration, and of the criticisms of the message that human caused climate change is a serious matter, to watch and listen the PBS video footage (transcripts are also provided) from the following web pages:
https://www.pbs.org/newshour/show/how-misinformation-is-used-to-amplify-and-solidify-ideology
https://www.pbs.org/newshour/show/conservatives-beef-with-biden-over-false-red-meat-claims
Regarding the false claim that Biden has accomplished nothing as President, please watch and listen to his first joint address to congress (as I type this is on live TV). In the address Biden mentions some of his accomplishments.

DesirousOfChange, I watch multiple news channels but are all the broadcast TV channels (ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS, and local affiliate of Fox Tc [totally different from the cable Fox TV), since I don't have cable TV and since I don't have satellite TV. At the break room at work I watch some of online programming from CNN. I read news articles from multiple sources (that come up in searches from Google and sometimes from Bing) and yes they are nearly all mainstream and left leaning news sources, since the right wing coverage to me is often "wrong wing" extremely distorted coverage in regards to political coverage and in regards to some other topics.
I have concern about revealing much about myself online, and especially on this site since the elders might figure out who I am, but I will tell you this much about my age. I was in public school during the 1970s and 1980 and ever since back then I wanted the Equal Rights Amendment to be ratified into the USA Constitution and I have identified ideologically with the very left-wing progressive branch of the Democratic Party (and former Teddy Roosevelt's environmentalist liberal Republican and Bull Moose Progressive Party) political views. I possibly became even somewhat more left-wing as I got older, as a result of learning more. I voted for Bernie Sanders in the Democratic Primaries in 2016 and in 2020 and for a while I was a member of the Green Party and voted for their Presidential candidates. I am now an atheist. Does that answer your question?
How old are you?
Regarding how Harris advanced her career the VP position, I don't believe at all the slurs and defaming junk you been listening to and reading from the "wrong wing" news media sources which backed Trump.

Diogenesister, the WT has actually admitted that their idea of a bodily resurrection is literally a recreation. I don't yet remember which WT book said it in detail (comparing it to how the cells of our bodies are duplicates which replaced other cells years ago), but page 175 in ph. 16 of the Life Does Have a Purpose book (c. 1977) briefly mentions the idea. The first sentence of that ph. says 'As to the resurrected one, God will accurately "re-create" each individual with his entire life pattern, personality and memory just as it was.' That wording might give the impression that the remains of the pattern, personality, and memory of the person will be collected and put back together, but elsewhere the WT literature says Jehovah will remake them using Jehovah's memory of those aspects of the person. You are right that the "JWs have a materialists['] view of life" and since I loved science since early childhood and since I knew scientific literature about the mind and the brain is also that way, it enabled to accept some of the JW ideas as scientifically correct and it helped to eventually pave the way to me becoming a positive/strong atheist and a philosophical/scientific atheist. Praise science.
Regarding the soul while they teach we don't have a soul in the same sense that most people use the word "soul", they do teach that whole person/being is a soul - including our mind with our body and that God can restore it from death - albeit by recreating it (creating a copy of it) since they believe that God has a perfect memory of mind.

Magnum what you said is so right in saying words matter. Another example would be to read a book purported to have been published in the 1700s saying that "a burning ball that looked like the basketballs officially used in NBA championships in the United States of America was lobbed from the deck of one iron clad steam powered ship to the other ship."
The reference to the sword in Genesis 3:24 should probably being viewed as anachronistic.

Correction: In my prior post where I wrote "Furthermore, stating in my book that I officiate quit the religion (despite the huge repercussions it brings), and stating the reasons why, would make me more credible as an author in the minds of many readers who are wondering if they should stop believing in religion and in a god (or gods). A letter of disassociation is a way to repudiate the WT/JW religion." I meant to write: "Furthermore, stating in my book that I officially quit the religion (despite the huge repercussions it brings), and stating the reasons why, would make me more credible as an author in the minds of many readers who are wondering if they also should stop believing in religion and in a god (or gods). A letter of disassociation is a way to repudiate the WT/JW religion, and depending upon the wording, to even repudiate Christianity, the Bible, and all supernaturalistically minded religions. It can also be a way to boldly say 'I am an apostate and an anti-Christ and a blasphemer (of the idea of god, but from an atheistic perspective not of god himself because to a positive atheist their is no god) and I'm proud of it.' "
